Open Call for a Co-editor

NO NIIN + Baltic Circle

We, the editors of NO NIIN, would like to invite an individual working in the field of contemporary theatre and performance to be the guest-editor for the two issues of November 2021 and December 2021. The guest editor will participate as co-editor with the editorial team of the magazine. The guest-editor will be in charge of curating and editing the content related to the Baltic Circle Festival and its events.

The 21st edition of Baltic Circle International Theatre Festival is happening between 19 –27 of November 2021. This year, the festival is collaborating with NO NIIN, an independent online monthly magazine at the cusp of art, criticality and love. The purpose of this collaboration is to offer a platform for dialogue and critical engagement with the festival. For this to happen, NO NIIN will dedicate half of its content published in two upcoming issues in November 2021 and December 2021 to essays, interviews, reviews and podcasts reflecting on the events and themes around the festival.

About Baltic Circle’s 2021 programme

Covid restrictions have hit the performance field hard. Gathering together, being seen and sharing space and energies is something we are looking forward to but enter bare and clumsy. Baltic Circle’s programme this year highlights care as radical action. The programme looks at our social and ecological environments and makes space to imagine more sustainable futures. Special attention is also given to the festivals rewilding site.

The invitation is open ONLY for individuals who are either Black, Indigenous, people of color, disabled, LGBTQIA±identifying or intersectional only of the above mentioned.

To respond to the invitation, kindly submit the following information to hello@no-niin.com. In the subject please write NO NIIN+Baltic Circle Open Call.

  • First and last name/Pronouns
  • Email
  • A short proposal telling us about your ideas for this collaboration, whom you would like to invite as contributors and why? (500 words max.)
  • CV (optional)

The deadline for this Open Call is September 17, 2021. The result will be published by the end of September.

The fee for the work is 2500€. The working hours are 120 hours. The amount of the overall fee is final and covers also any value-added tax or other taxes and fees.

If you have any questions regarding this open call, contact us at hello@no-niin.com.
